African Safari - 3 Tips to Keep You Safe On Your Safari

Going on safari? You should be very excited.
Not only will it be an unforgettable holiday but it will probably be a one in a lifetime experience that will stay with your forever.
While most nature reserves are quite safe, the fact remains that you are in the would amongst wild animals.
It is very dangerous.
While you will probably go on expeditions with a guide for a day or two, the majority of time you will be driving around on your own.
Most reserves in Africa have good dirt roads that criss-cross the reserves and as long as you follow some basic safety tips you will have no real problems.
However, you need to stick to the strict safety guidelines.
Here are 3 very important safety tips to keep you safe on your African safari: 1.
Never Leave Your Car The number once cause for fatal attacks in African game reserves is the fact that people get out of their cars.
Your car is the only real protection you will have out there and the second you leave your car you are in danger.
Remember that wild animals like lions and cheetahs are predators and to them you are nothing more than lunch.
2.
Reach Camp By Nightfall When the sun goes down, the wild animals come out.
Most predators hunt by night and being caught in the middle is never a good idea.
Its important that you plan your journey to always be in your camp by sundown.
If you want to see animals at night, only do it with a guided tour and with trained guides.
3.
Qualified Guides In certain national parks there's been incidents of opportunist locals who pass themselves off as qualified guides - but they are not.
In Africa, law enforcement is not exactly what we are used to so its important that you book your guides only with your local hotel or your camp and if you want to be double sure you can always ask your guide for his permit.
Don;t take any chances on this as a bad guide can lead you into a bad situation that can end badly.
