Mosiac Tile Cleaning Tips

    Dust or Sweep

    • Whether your mosaic tile is on the floor or wall, it should be swept or dusted regularly. A mosaic tile finish can be damaged by dirt and dust. Dust walls once weekly, and dust mop or sweep mosaic tile floors daily. In addition to this, always remove dirt, dust and debris before more in-depth cleaning is performed.

    Indoor Tile Cleaning

    • Indoor mosaic tile can be cleaned with soap and water. Fill a large bowl or cleaning bucket with warm water and add a few drops of mild dish soap. Wipe the tile down with a soft cloth moistened in the soapy water. Wring out and re-wet the rag as needed. Use a soft bristle toothbrush or nail brush to scrub clean the grout between the tiles. Empty the bowl or bucket when you have cleaned the entire surface. Rinse the bucket thoroughly and refill it with clean water. Use a clean, soft cloth dipped in the clean water to wipe away and soap left on the tile. Finish up cleaning by buffing the mosaic tile with a soft, clean, dry cloth.

    Outdoor Tile Cleaning

    • Outdoor mosaic tile on your patio or patio furniture can be cleaned with a garden hose. Use a pressure nozzle to spray the tile down between the cracks. If the tile is especially dirty and does not come clean with water alone, use a squeegee or soft-bristled scrub brush to loosen tough stains. Cleanser can be used to clean outdoor tile if water and scrubbing do not work on their own.

    Vinegar and Water

    • Vinegar and water can be used to remove tough stains from mosaic tile. Make a cleaning mixture of 1 gallon of water and 1 cup vinegar. Reader's Digest recommends using undiluted vinegar and a toothbrush to whiten grout between tiles. Vinegar is acidic, so it should be used on stone and ceramic tiles only when tough stains are present. Repeated use of acidic cleaners may damage the these tiles.
