How to Take Off a John Deere X500 Mower Deck
- 1). Drive the mower onto level ground, turn off the engine and set the parking brake.
- 2). Place a wooden block under the right side and left side of the X500's mower deck.
- 3). Depress the mower deck height adjustment lever and lower the deck onto the blocks to release tension on the linkage rods.
- 4). Pull the cotter pins from the linkage pins that secure the linkage rods to the bottom of the tractor.
- 5). Pull the linkage pins out of the linkage rods and then lower the rods out of the way.
- 6). Slide the mower deck forward slightly and pull the drive belt off the pulley located on the bottom of the motor.
- 7). Slide the mower deck out from under the tractor.
