How to Fix a Rock Band Guitar

    • 1). Unplug your "Rock Band" guitar controller from your video game console.

    • 2). Remove all screws from the back of the guitar peripheral. Make a mental note of where each screw came from, as the screws come in three different sizes. There are screws on the back panel, near the guitar neck and oftentimes behind the strum plate.

    • 3). Place the guitar face down on your work surface. Gently wiggle the back portion of the guitar shell until it comes free of the forward portion. Set the freed guitar shell aside.

    • 4). Loosen the small screw just above the long, flat bar at the bottom of the strummer assembly. This screw controls the rotational tension of the micro-switch connected to the strummer. If this micro-switch becomes misaligned due to the powerful motion of strumming, the instrument will not read your movements correctly.

    • 5). Rotate the micro-switch until the plastic piece attached to the micro-switch's metal contact and the nearest plastic nub on the strum bar are pressed against each other. More than likely, you will need to rotate the micro-switch toward the outside of the guitar due to powerful downward strumming.

    • 6). Tighten the tension screw to hold the micro-switch in place. Ensure that both plastic pieces are resting firmly against each other.

    • 7). Replace the plastic guitar shell and all screws previously removed. Plug your guitar into your console and test it on a song that requires rapid strumming.
