Proper Sliding Wardrobe Doors Maintenance

Regular maintenance of your wardrobe sliding door is the key to prevent problems with your closet. This article can help you achieve such a goal.

Your closet is one of the important furniture in your room. It's where you keep your nice clothes safe and uncluttered. Thus, it is crucial to keep your sliding wardrobes in good condition through regular maintenance.

Although some people don't see the importance of keeping a functional closet, this stance may only last until one of the doors is stuck in the track and they find themselves or their outfits locked inside it.

So, whenever you get extra time, do not forget to perform simple fixes on your wardrobe's doors. Speaking of which, here are some helpful insights to guide you in preventing problems with your closet:

1. Prepare necessary tools that you will need in the said process such as lubricating oils as well as a set of screwdrivers. Remember that various closets usually have different screw sizes.

2. Check the doors if there are any signs of deterioration and damage. Inspect the front and back portions of the furniture. Also, try to check the tracks where the door rides on. Usually, it gets stuck if small objects block the track. Additionally, dust and dirt may accumulate in it and may snag the rollers. Make sure that the revolving cylinders in your sliding wardrobe doors are free-spinning and are on a parallel line.

3. Use lubricating oils for the rollers. Ideally, you don't have to buy expensive lubes as you may use whatever you can find in your home. However, make sure the oil is not dirty. Avoid using the dark ones, too. Look for clean and clear lubes in your garage. Only use lubes whenever necessary; you do not have to regularly apply every time you perform regular maintenance. Otherwise, it will look greasy and may even carry a foul smell.

4. Replace the rollers with new ones if they are damaged already. Usually, you can just easily pull them out and insert the replacement. However, just to be safe, you can take out the sliding doors by unscrewing it from the floor before placing the new components.

5. Dust off all the dirt in the track. Make sure that the doors are free-spinning. If a door skids, check out other areas that may cause the problem. If you are installing new carpets, you may trim a small amount from the bottom to make sure it doesn't block the slide.

6. Maintain cleanliness. Wipe the door surface with special cleaning liquid specified by the manufacturer to keep its original texture. Also, prevent any pests like cockroaches from entering your wardrobe by sealing all possible entry points. And you wouldn't like these insects laying eggs among your clothes.

Follow these simple steps to keep your closet in good shape.
