Heating, ventilating and air conditioning, or HVAC, is the system that maintains temperatures for residential and commercial buildings. In short, HVAC systems help keep us cool when it's hot and warm when it's cold. Because HVAC units use air ducts to facilitate the flow of warm and cold air, it is important that the ducts be cleaned regularly; this will help allow the warm and cold air to flow smoothly through the ducts. So just what kind of cleaning tools can be used for HVAC ducts? - The power vacuum sucks up dirt and dust from HVAC ducts through the use of negative air, much like a vacuum cleaning one may be used to clean a house or car. Consumers can choose between single-motor and dual-motor HVAC power vacuums, depending on the size of the air ducts. Power vacuum cleanings of an HVAC air duct systems may be necessary only once every two or three years.
- If you are looking for something a bit simpler, or if your HVAC air ducts are not too large, a rotary duct cleaner could be perfect. A rotary duct has a body like a vacuum cleaner with a long coiled hose. At the tip of the hose sits a cleaning brush that rotates and sucks up dirt and grime. The hose also employs a vacuum-like negative air system to help eliminate the dust and dirt.
- If you have vents and not large ducts, a rotary vent cleaner might be better for you than a larger model of the two cleaning tools listed above. Rotary vent cleaners are similar to rotary duct cleaners, but are much smaller, and can be handled more easily. Rotary vent cleaners also can be used for dryers.
