How to Make Flowers from Plumber's Tape
- 1). Create stems by cutting floral wire to the desired length. For more durable stems, use garden wire or bailing wire.
- 2). Wrap the stems in green duct tape. Cut 1-inch strips of duct tape, then place the wire at the end of the tape and roll it into place.
- 3). Cut the tape into different sizes to create the blooms. Sections that are 2-by-2 inches are recommended, but a combination of sizes provides a more realistic illusion.
- 4). Fold the right corner of your duct tape, leaving about 1/8 inch between the folded corner and the edge.
- 5). Fold the left edge of the duct tape, using the 1/8 inch of sticky space. One end of the duct tape should now look like a triangle.
- 6). Take the piece you just folded and roll it onto the stem wire. Line up your wire with the base of the triangle on your tape and roll until the entire strip has been adhered to the stem. This will be the base for your flower.
- 7). Repeat Steps 4 and 5 with the rest of your pieces of duct tape.
- 8). Adhere another two petals to the stem wire. Try to keep these petals as close to the stem as possible. The idea is to make the flower look like it hasn't bloomed yet.
- 9). Adhere additional petals to the flower stem. When sticking the petals to the wire, pull the base down slowly to have the triangular end curve as if the flower is opening. Do not pull too much, otherwise the flower will fall apart. Continue this step until your flower is the size and shape you desire.
