Women and Premenstrual Acne

Studies show that many women suffer from some level of premenstrual acne.
It is estimated that the number of these women is somewhere around the 44 percent mark! 44 percent! That is nearly half of all women.
Premenstrual acne does not appear to be influenced by ethnicity; however, age does play a minor role.
Women over the age of 33 tend to experience a higher occurrence of premenstrual acne.
Premenstrual acne is largely a result of hormones.
During a woman's monthly cycle an increase in the hormones called androgens are produced.
This hormone is a leading contributor to premenstrual acne.
Androgens cause the sebaceous glands and hair follicles in the skin to be stimulated.
When this happens an excess of oil can be produced.
When mixed with bacteria and dead skin cells, pores can become clogged resulting in acne flare-ups.
Certain oral contraceptives can also be a contributing factor in premenstrual acne in some cases.
There are a number of treatments that can aid in the prevention of premenstrual acne.
Zenmed's Derma Cleanse is one of the leading acne treatment products available for the prevention and treatment of most types of acne.
For the many women who experience acne due to their menstrual cycle, there is really no reason why it must be put up with.
There are solutions and treatments to either reduce your symptoms and outbreaks, or eliminate it it entirely.
While it may require a slight modification in lifestyle, beautiful healthy skin is certainly a possibility for just about everyone.
