Practice Your Swing in the Pool!
Still working on slowing your swing down? Do you have a pool that's at least six feet deep? Then grab an old seven iron and take it in the water with you.
Get to where you are in about five feet of water.
Your feet should touch the bottom and stay there.
You should be able to stand fairly straight without a lot of body movement.
Try to sole the club about an inch or two above the bottom.
Now take your usual back swing.
You'll notice right away that you HAVE TO swing slow.
At the top, your club may come out of the water, but that's good.
Now take your usual downswing and notice that as the club re-enters the water, you again HAVE TO slow down.
Be sure to take your usual follow through.
Your club should again come out of the water as you finish your swing.
Practice 100 swings every time you go swimming.
Once you finish, get out of the pool and practice the very same swing on your lawn.
The key here is to pretend you are still in the water.
Remember how slow your back swing was? Did you especially notice how much more time it takes to make your downswing? If you are keeping your head BEHIND the ball, you should notice the club pass on the way down.
You no longer have to look at the ball; you are simply trusting that the club will meet the ball squarely.
Remember, the golf ball is not going to run away from you.
There is no need to hurry your swing.
Your job is to take an easy relaxed swing and trust that your club will get back to the ball squarely.
Trusting your swing is all about letting your subconscious mind take over for that easy, repeatable golf swing.
