How to Clean a Black & Decker Steam Iron

- 1). Unplug the iron and wait for it to cool.
- 2). Dampen a cloth with warm water and add 2 or 3 drops of dish soap.
- 3). Wipe the metal surface of the iron with the cloth, removing all of the residue. Clean the handle, controls and buttons.
- 4). Rinse the cloth in warm water, wring it out and wipe the entire surface of the iron to remove the soap.
- 5). Dry the iron with a clean, dry cloth.
- 1). Fill the water tank to the max line in a cool iron and plug it in.
- 2). Turn the iron on and set the dial to high heat. Wait for the iron to heat completely.
- 3). Hold the iron with the heat plate facing down over a sink. Press and hold the steam button until all of the water is evaporated. Shake the iron side to side with the button pressed to remove all of the water.
- 4). Set the iron upright on a safe surface and leave the heat on for two minutes to dry out any remaining water.
