How to Fill Out a Joinder for Support Modification

    • 1). Obtain a joinder form from the court where the child support modification action is pending. Because a joinder is a routine motion, most courts will provide a standardized form for obtaining a joinder.

    • 2). Fill out the joinder form. While the content of a joinder form varies by state, you will need to provide the names of the parties, the file number for the pending child support modification case and your name and address. You may be required to indicate whether you wish to receive notice of future filings, as well as the names and birth dates of any children who are subjects in the pending child support modification. Depending on the state, you may be required to sign the joinder form in the presence of a notary.

    • 3). File the joinder form with the court where the child support modification case is pending. Because a joinder form is a substitute for service of process, courts will not likely charge a fee for filing a joinder.
