Psoriasis - Is There A Cure And What Is The Treatment?
Psoriasis, that is quite a question.
If you asked me 100 years ago you would probably be misdiagnosed as having leprosy.
Banished from communities and families, it was quite a horrific solution to the wrong diagnoses.
Even in the last few decades you would still have been given the wrong diagnoses from naming the symptoms as - Fungal Infections (Tinea), Candidiasis, Eczema and even Dandruff.
The common fault is that this disease have common symptom as the others mentioned.
Only in the last few decades have scientific advances been made that we can now understand this disease better.
You have to understand how it is formed within a patient to be able to give the right treatments.
As this disease is pasted from generation to generation through their genes it is highly probable that family members will contract Psoriasis.
Other ways of contracting Psoriasis is through failing health, smoking, and the environment, toxins reactions to certain substances.
All of these causes can trigger a reaction within the body which causes the bodies immune system to breakdown.
The symptoms you seeraised red or silvery scaling areas, flaky skin, finger and/or toenails (rough, discoloured appearance, often with individual pits in the nail plate).
These are only some of the of the surface symptoms.
Is there a cure? You will only find out onceyou have gone to see your doctor.
They will ask a number of questions to properly diagnose the problem.
- .

Do you have one or more raised, red, silvery, scaling areas? .

How effective were they? .
Do you have a history of skin lesions improving in summer and worsening in winter? Further test may need to be undertaken such as, blood test, x-ray, a biopsy of the skin.
These are only routine depending on the severity of the problem.
Only when the doctor has all the answers in front of them will they prescribe the correct therapy for you.
This could be any or a combination of the following .
Of the treatments prescribedyour doctor would suggest one of the following:- .
Systemic therapy .
Topical treatment .
Photo therapy .
Biologics Any treatment or therapy given will not totally cure the problem as Psoriasis has a point of coming back.
It can only be kept a bay and contained with continued treatment or a change of lifestyle.
An understanding of the cause can hopefully help the patient to avoid the causes or change their ways.
