How to Fix a Plumbing Stoppage With Acid
- 1). Fill the basin of the sink tub or shower pan with hot water.
- 2). Pour half the bottle of drain cleaner directly into the drain and wait approximately 20 minutes or until the water completely seeps out of the basin or shower pan.
- 3). Run hot water through the drain for a period of 10 minutes. If the water runs freely, you are done. If the water still backs up and drains slowly, add the second half of the bottle to the drain, wait again. If the water still backs up, the clog may require a mechanical snake to clear. At this point, chemicals will not clear the drain.
