How to Sell Outdated Foreign Currency

    • 1). Identify the bills and coins you have--the time the money was printed (or minted), the denomination of the banknote (or coin), and the country in which it was issued. Look for a year on the bill (or coin) and a big caption, noting the country, then check the name of the country through an Internet dictionary. The denomination is easy to tell, as it appears in large caption on any banknote or coin.

    • 2). Find a collector who buys such currency. Look for collectors in the Yellow Pages or online, or put a bid on eBay, the online auction site. If you put a sell offer on eBay, make a photo of the back and front of the banknote or coin you have and write the full description of the coin.

    • 3). Sell the currency to the highest bidder. Make sure you have a number of offers; otherwise, you may sell your currency below the market price.
