DIY: How to Wax Commercial Flooring

    • 1). Sweep the floor you will be waxing using the broom. Clean up the debris with the broom and dustpan. Add wax stripper to the bucket along with the proper amount of hot water for the brand of stripper you are using. Spread generous amounts of the stripper/water combination on the floor and allow it to work on the existing wax, if any.

    • 2). Attach a wax-stripping pad to the floor-buffing machine. Move the buffer along the entire floor and allow the stripping pad to scrub any old wax away from the floor. Use a scraper and floor brush for hard-to-reach areas like corners and along the edges of the walls.

    • 3). Dry the floor using the old mop to remove any excess water. Continuously wring the mop out with the wringing attachment on the bucket. Properly discard the leftover stripper/water solution according to the regulations in your jurisdiction for chemical disposal.

    • 4). Fill the bucket with clean hot water. Mop the entire floor using the old mop and plain water. Constantly rinse the mop and wring it out. Allow the floor to dry thoroughly before you begin applying floor wax. Apply a thin coat of wax to the floor using a new mop head.

    • 5). Apply another coat to the floor after allowing the first coat of wax to dry thoroughly. Repeat as necessary but always remember that multiple thin coats are better than a single thick coat, and the wax will dry quicker. Buff the floors as necessary using the floor-buffing machine and a buffing pad.
