How often should you do something romantic?
Women's Point of View

For her:
For a woman to truly feel cherished, she needs to be constantly reminded that she is loved. Sometimes men think that one grand gesture should have him off the hook for a long time. Let's equate a woman's heart to a car's gas tank. One grand gesture is like trying to go to the station and put 100 gallons in the tank so it will run for a long time. It's just not how it works - paying for 100 gallons still only gets you about 2 weeks of driving before you have to fill up again. The simple explanation is that women forget how the gesture made her feel. To keep her the happiest, I suggest planning a small romantic surprise about every two weeks.
For him:
Men are more like bank accounts - if you put in a big deposit - every penny counts and it should last you a while. A woman is able to make a combination of different sized deposits to keep her man happy. Maybe a big romantic gesture one month and a small one next month. In a man's world - one carefully planned, great romantic surprise could last him several months! To keep him happiest, I suggest planning a romantic surprise about every six weeks - using a combination of small and bigger treats for him.
Men's Point of View

David is currently a graduate student at Tulane University where he is studying Epidemiology. He is a wonderfully romantic man who has been dating Maria Song, our Managing Editor, for 7 years.
For her:
Men are expected to be there for the big days such as holidays, birthdays, and anniversaries. If they don't show up big for those, then they hear about it until the next time around. But one of the best ways to show your affection to a woman is to do something romantic when there's no specific reason to celebrate. Keep her on her toes. Keep her guessing. Don't just show up on the days when you know you're on the wrong side of an argument or when everything is going right for you. It is all about her and the celebration of her. That said, try to do something romantic for her 3 to 4 times a month. Women are all about the little things because when we do something often, it shows that we are constantly thinking about them and that we care.
For him:
Men like to be rewarded for their actions. When they have been on a great streak in the relationship and seem to be saying and doing all the right things - that is the time to reward them. Otherwise it can become very frustrating and it turns that part of the man's brain off to be creative and do things for her. There is a give and take process that is extremely important to men, and if that is disturbed enough times than the giving from his side will not only decrease, but begin to lack in the creativity department as well. Men like bigger gestures but less frequently than women. Therefore, as a guy I would say something romantic once a month or so is what we look for.
