A Look at Meditation and How It"s Not All About Metaphysics
When one first takes a look at meditation, they often think of such things as metaphysics, or the new age movement.
This is a wide stereotypical false assumption and couldn't be further from the truth.
Meditation and Metaphysics While it's true that meditation is commonly associated with metaphysics and is a fantastic tool for raising consciousness, it's also true that even those who have no interest whatsoever in metaphysical pursuits can benefit greatly from meditation.
So, if the word "meditation bothers you that much, then try not to get caught up in the word itself.
Substitute it with the words "deep relaxation".
Meditation and Relaxation If you aren't currently spiritual and have no desire to be spiritual, you should approach meditation from a different perspective.
For example, when you look at meditation, look at it for what it is.
In it's simplest form, meditation is a way for you to clear your thoughts and still your mind and body.
It's just a very deep form of relaxation that is great for reducing high levels of stress and clearing the clutter from your mind.
So, the important thing to take away from this is that when you meditate, you don't have to focus on spiritual topics.
Nor do you have to focus on love, oneness, energy etc.
Instead, just make yourself comfortable, close your eyes and proceed with the following as an example.
Non-Spiritual Meditation Example:

Take your time, practice, experiment, but most importantly, have fun!

- Make yourself comfortable and close your eyes.
Then proceed by taking a few deep breaths, focusing on your breathing.
- Focus on relaxing each individual part of your body, feeling the parts go relaxed as you work your way down.
- Begin by visualizing yourself in an enjoyable environment such as a tropical beach or a lush beautiful meadow(as an example).
- Hold the image of your environment in your mind and proceed with affirmations such as:"I am calm and collected", "stress just melts away", "I am more relaxed with every breath I take".
- Continue this meditation as long as you'd like, and when are ready to return, count from 1 to 10,and affirm to yourself that you are wide awake".
Again, when you take a look at meditation, look at it for what it is, a way to deeply relax and calm your mind.
