Making Stepping Stone Molds

    Milk Jug Stepping Stone Mold

    • 1). Measure and mark the outside of a clean gallon milk jug 3 inches from its bottom. Mark a straight line at the 3-inch mark all the way around the jug.

    • 2). Measure and mark another line around the jug, 2 inches from the bottom.

    • 3). Puncture the milk jug with a craft knife along the 3-inch line. Make the opening large enough to insert a scissor blade into.

    • 4). Cut along the 3-inch line with scissors.

    • 5). Discard the top of the jug. The 2-inch line is a guide for filling the jug with concrete mix for the stepping stone.

    • 6). Apply a release agent to and/or cut the sides of the milk jug to remove the hardened stone.

    Pizza Box Stepping Stone Mold

    • 1). Separate the top and bottom sections of a medium- or small-sized pizza box by cutting along the back edge.

    • 2). Reinforce the open edges of both sections with strips of 2-inch-wide duct tape.

    • 3). Cover the insides of the boxes with plastic wrap to prevent the cardboard from absorbing water from the concrete mix.

    • 4). Coat the plastic wrap with a release agent before pouring in the concrete.

    • 5). Cut away the sides of the pizza boxes to remove the stone.

Ice Cream Carton Stepping Stone Mold

    • 1). Clean and dry the inside of a used ice cream carton.

    • 2). Measure and mark the outside of the container 2 inches from the bottom. It's not necessary to cut the ice cream carton down as the opening at the top is wide enough to pour the concrete into.

    • 3). Line the inside of the carton with plastic wrap and cover it with a release agent.

    • 4). Use the 2-inch line to guide you when pouring in the concrete mix.
