What Kind of Flowers Are Angel's Trumpets?

    Datura arborea

    • Holding its blossoms so the end of the trumpet is pointed up, Datura arborea releases its scent after dark to attract its night-flying, pollinating moths. They easily reseed themselves, growing rapidly and blooming when just 18 inches high, although the low-growing vines can spread 4 to 6 feet.

    Nicotiana alata

    • First introduced into cultivation from the Americas in the early 19th century, Nicotiana alata is also known as flowering tobacco. It has white, trumpeted, star-shaped flowers attractive to butterflies and hummingbirds. They open in early evening and release the most intense fragrance at night.

    Burgmansia solanaceae

    • A perennial in its native tropical habitat, Burgmansia solanaceae grows about 10 feet high, with a woody trunk and lateral branches spreading 12 feet wide. It has yellow, pink or white, trumpet-shaped flowers that hang down, facing the ground. They require full sun and a lot of water during the growing season.
