Tips on Planning an Atlantic City Vacation

If you are planning a gambling trip in the US, I would suggest going to Vegas.
However, if you find yourself on the other Coast, Atlantic City can be a good option.
But, be warned - an Atlantic Ciity vacation must be well- planned to avoid some of the less desirable aspects of this once thriving vacation destination.
First of all, I would recommend staying at the Borgota.
Although it is a bit off the strip, many of the older casino hotels have failed to undergoe renovations for quite some time and most have pricing policies that invite a certain type of crowd.
The borgota is the only true 4-star hotel in Atlantic City, in my opinion, and is also very reasonably priced relative to casino resorts in Vegas and elsewhere.
In addition, the crowd at the Borgota tends to be young, hip, and somewhat classy.
For sure, there will be less riff-raff and geriatrics at the Borgota than anywhere else in Atlantic City.
The next step involves choosing activities.
I would suggest gambling (obviously), checking out a show or two, and maybe hitting up one of the clubs.
Persoanlly, I enjoy blackjack, Roulette, and Craps.
Notably, if you plan on staying during the weekend, it can be quite difficult to find a spot at some of the tables at the Borgota and it may be necessary to patronize one of the less popular casinos in town during peak hours if you are deadset on gaming.
However, I would highly advise staying within the confines of the main strip oir in the direct vicinity of the Borgota.
Much of Atlantic City is not only run-down, but quite dangerous once one ventures off the strip.
The streets in "mainland AC" are filled with pawn shops, liquor stores, and checks cashing businesses, all of which tend to cater to the lower echelons of society.
It is commonplace to find homeless people, thugs, and gangster looking folks infesting much of the town.
Unless you want to run the risk of being mugged, assaulted, or harassed, I would definitely avoid heading away from the main strip.
Altogether, an Atlantic City vacation can be quite enjoyable if done correctly, but significant caution should be employed to avoid unsavory accommodations and seedy people.
Nonetheless, I would still recommend Vegas as the top gambling destination withint the Continental US.
However, if you live on the East Coast or find yourself in NYC, Atlantic City can provide for a convenient and fun vacation.
