How to Get to the Drum of a Frigidaire Dryer

    • 1). Unplug the dryer's electrical cord from the outlet. Pull the dryer away from the wall about 6 inches.

    • 2). Open the lint filter compartment if it's located on the top of the dryer. Remove the filter and unscrew the Phillips screws using a Phillips screwdriver.

    • 3). Slide a putty knife under the front edge of the cabinet between the top and front panels. Feel for the spring clips that secure the top. There are two clips, one on each side, a couple of inches from the sides. Press in on the clips with the blade of the putty knife to release them.

    • 4). Lift the top up and lean it against the wall. The top on most Frigidaire models is on hinges and will pivot up and out of the way.

    • 5). Locate the screws on the top of the cabinet that secure it to the main dryer body. There may also be screws on the sides of the cabinet toward the bottom. Remove all the screws using a Phillips screwdriver.

    • 6). Grasp the cabinet with both hands on either side and pull it off the main dryer body. Pull the cabinet over the lip of the drum to slide it entirely off the dryer if necessary. Set the cabinet to the side.
