How to Make a Complaint to the Attorney General in North Carolina

    • 1). Complete the appropriate consumer complaint form (see Resources). You have the option of completing a paper form or completing the form electronically. Forms are available online for printing at home. You can also call the Attorney General's office to request a copy of the form.

    • 2). Submit copies of any supporting information you may have. Supporting information may include receipts, contracts or bills of sale. These copies will be sent to the Attorney General's office, along with your consumer complaint form. Maintain possession of the originals of these documents, should you need them for future use.

    • 3). Provide a detailed explanation of the situation surrounding your complaint. These details must be written in the "Explanation" section of the Consumer Complaint form. If necessary, you can continue your explanation on additional sheets of paper.

    • 4). Sign your consumer complaint form. Submit the form and all documentation either electronically or by mail. If you choose to mail your information, send it to:
