Painting With Orange Ideas

    Burnt Orange

    • Choose burnt orange for an earthy and sophisticated effect. A spicy dark pumpkin works well for a long hallway that doesn't get much natural light. You can also use burnt orange on an accent wall, where it will add a burst of brightness without taking over the room.

    Citrus and White

    • Citrus orange, the color of a tangerine or ripe orange, can add a vibrant pop of bright color to a room. Pair it with white to temper the effect. Paint your kitchen cabinets white and use bright orange on the smallest wall space, between the counter top and cabinets. Orange and white create a happy atmosphere. This combination is well-suited to rooms that get a large amount of natural light.

    Subtle Orange

    • If you love the feeling of orange but are not ready to commit to a bright shade, look at paints in orange tones like peach and salmon. Pair lighter shades of orange with brown or cream for a smooth, natural look. Add small amounts of green to peach or salmon shades to create a sophisticated take on an earth-tone color scheme.

    Orange Accents

    • Choose small items or sections of walls that could use a touch-up and paint them orange. In a kitchen, paint your island cabinets bright orange. Color a small section of wall between the hallway and a window a warm shade of pumpkin. Experiment with different shades for small furniture items, such as a coffee table or step stool.
