Flowers, chocolate, stuffed animals and cards are all cliched Valentine's Day gifts that are enjoyed for a short period of time before they wilt, are eaten, get kept in a closet or thrown in the trash. Make him a homemade Valentine's Day gift this year with more significance than the typical store-bought gifts.

    Photo Puzzle Cube

    • The Rubik's cube is a classic puzzle cube that has kept countless people entertained for hours. Make your own puzzle cube, only instead of each side being a different color each side will feature a different picture of the two of you together. You just need some dice, six photos of the two of you edited to fit the sides of the cube, some magnets and epoxy. The puzzle cube with give him a mental workout while also reminding him of some of the memories you two share.

    Sweet Treats Basket

    • Save money this Valentine's Day while still giving him a gift he can enjoy by putting together a little basket of sweet treats. Cake, brownie, cookie and muffin mixes are all relatively inexpensive, especially if you purchase them when they go on sale. Use these mixes to bake him up some delicious goodies or use your own family recipes to bake them from scratch. Put them in a decorative basket with a napkin on the bottom. You can go even further and decorate the basket with some ribbon and fabric if you wish, but really, that isn't necessary because he is sure to be focused on the scrumptious morsels inside the basket more than the basket itself.

    Homemade Dinner

    • A homemade dinner as a Valentine's gift is along the same lines as a basket filled with baked goods, only this gift not only fills his stomach, but also allows the two of you to spend some time together. Put together a full meal for the two of you to enjoy on Valentine's Day with some romantic candlelight. Make an appetizer, a salad, a main course and a dessert. Pair each course with a nice wine, alcoholic or non depending on your preference. After dinner the two of you can snuggle up on the couch, enjoy a movie and eat your dessert.

    Photo Handkerchief

    • A photo handkerchief is a gift that gives him a convenient way to carry you with him wherever he goes. Print your favorite picture of you or of the two of you out on iron-on photo transfer paper. Iron the photo onto a plain white handkerchief. You can dress the photo handkerchief up with some embroidery to accent different parts of the photo or just leave it plain. Black-and-white photos look better transferred onto fabric than color photos. Don't forget to flip the photo before printing it on the paper as the reverse image will transfer onto the handkerchief.
