- 1). Place your Xbox 360 on the carpet. When the system is on, it will generate large amounts of heat. This heat will be trapped by the carpet and unable to disperse, raising its chances of failing.
- 2). Turn on your Xbox 360 and leave it on. Don't turn it off when you finish playing a game. Leaving it on for hours and days on end will help bring it to a swift, red-ring related end.
- 3). Put it near a heat source. This could be near other electronics that have difficulty cooling or near your heater.
- 4). Reduce airflow. The Xbox 360 works to cool itself with a series of fans and vents. Don't give them a chance to work by putting the system up against a wall. If you have something blocking the vents, such as a towel, this will make it even worse. Also, don't bother cleaning the vents.
