The first thing that may be running through your mind is that you are not a crafty type person. You may end up pleasantly surprising yourself if you try a few of the simple suggestions here. Chances are once you get started there will be no stopping you.

Here are a few simple ways for you to start crafting your dcor.

Perhaps those table lamps in the living room are in need of a makeover. There are some really simple ways to do this. For the base if you have a solid surface such as ceramic for example, you can paint some really nice designs on them with glass paint. Use a stencil if you don't feel you can hand draw the design. There are various types of glass paint on the market that you don't have to heat set and once they are cured, they are washable.

Then if the base has a pattern to it simply repaint the pattern, again with glass paint and you may want to try using good artists gold paint for the accents. It's just like coloring within the lines it's that simple.

Now if the lampshades have seen better days you may want to consider doing a bead shade. It too is really simple. You simply measure a circle around the diameter of the top of the shade then string some beads on some fishing line until it fits perfectly around the top of the shade. Then between each bead carefully tie a piece of line a little longer than the shade itself and string these. Before you know it, you have a really super lamp shade. This is just one of the many ways of crafting your dcor.

Let's talk about window dressings. We all know that with the cost of materials today it really is expensive to put up new curtain or drapes. One of the things you can do here is once again using glass paint you can paint a beautiful design on the outer borders of the window right on the glass. This could be a trellis with a vine crawling up it for example. Again it's easy to do if you use stencils and glass paint.

There are just a couple of really simple examples to show you that crafting your dcor can be fun, easy and inexpensive. Now start putting your imagination to work and come up with your own ideas.
