A Graduation Poem

Graduation is both an ending for both of us and also a beginning. It is an end to school years at home, of full time parenting. No more lunches to make, no more buses to beat home, no more teacher conferences, classrooms to volunteer in. No more sporting events to attend or concerts for that matter. It is also a time to celebrate all of the accomplishments, hard work and awards received.  It is also a beginning; for the graduate it is about stepping out into the world of college, a time of transition as she steps out on her own. For the parent, it's about the start of a new ‘job' as the one of mother comes also to a transition. It is exciting for sure and yet sad at the same time. There is one word for it that fits here perfectly: Bittersweet.

Blessed

Inspired by all you have accomplished and all you can be

Taught each other – talents

Time flew by so quickly

Ever full of laughter

Remember those you've loved and those who love you

Safe because I know God has you in his hand and Jesus in his heart

Welcome here always

Excited about what is to come and all the opportunities ahead of you

Ending always brings a new beginning

Together still, even though apart. Always just a phone call or text away

There is so much to be excited about and proud of all at the same time. The traditions we began when our kids started school, have come full circle. When I look at all we both have done, there is so much to be happy and grateful for.

This week's Feature Article in my Ezine is A Letter to my Daughter for her Graduation. What I hope for her as she moves forward in her education and life. Those of you who have graduates this year will love it.  At one time or another we are all graduates.
