How to Knit a Layered Flower
- 1). Cast on 75 stitches. Knit two stitches then bind off three stitches. Continue to knit two and bind off three for the rest of the row and turn your work. Purl the next row. You will have fewer stitches. Turn the work.
- 2). Knit two stitches then bind off two stitches. Continue to knit two and bind off two for the rest of the row, then turn your work and purl the next row. You will have even fewer stitches.
- 3). Knit one stitch and bind off one stitch. Continue to knit one and bind off one for the rest of the row. Turn the work and purl the next row. Cut the yarn a foot from the work to create a 12-inch tail.
- 4). Thread the tail through the needle. Starting at the opposite end of the work, pass the needle through each stitch, gathering the work into a circle. When your last stitch it on the tail, remove the knitting needles. Tie off the tail.
- 1). Cast on one stitch. Increase one stitch, knit one and increase another stitch. Turn your work, Increase one stitch, knit two and increase one stitch. Increase one stitch, knit four and increase another stitch. Turn the work. Increase one stitch, knit six stitches and increase another stitch. Turn the work.
- 2). Knit one row. Turn the work. Knit two stitches together, knit six stitches, then knit two together. Turn your work. Knit two together, knit four stitches and knit two together. Turn and knit two together, knit two stitches, then knit two together. Bind off the last four stitches. Do not cut the yarn.
- 3). Cast on four stitches with the tail of the last petal. Increase one stitch, knit four and increase another stitch. Turn the work. Increase one stitch, knit six stitches and increase another stitch. Turn the work.
- 4). Knit one row. Turn the work. Knit two stitches together, knit six stitches, then knit two together. Turn your work. Knit two together, knit four stitches and knit two together. Turn and knit two together, knit two stitches, then knit two together. Turn and knit two together, knit one stitch, then knit two together. Turn the work and knit two together and knit one. Knit the last two stitches together and bind off the last stitch. Cut the yarn.
- 5). Repeat Steps 1 through 4 two more times for a total of six petals.
- 6). Lay the petals on top of the base and stitch the petals in the middle of the base.
