Homemade Costumes With a Red Cape
- Possibilities are plentiful for costumes that involve caped superheros. Do not go with the normal well-known heroes. This is the perfect opportunity to spark creativity in your child. Let him create his own superhero personality, and build a costume around it. Make little Ethan "E-man" complete with a sweat suit in his favorite color, an "E" on his chest, and, of course, a red cape. On the PBS series "Super Why," Wonder Red is essentially Little Red Riding Hood on roller skates. Any costume can be enhanced with a red cape and the word "super" added to the moniker.
- A red princess wears all red. She will be the red-capped star of the night, donning a red dress, red sparkly shoes, flashy red jewelry, and a crown. If it is an option to alter the red blanket or cape, add white faux fur to the edges to make a robe for the king. You only need to add a crown and a scepter.
- Flora is one of Sleeping Beauty's three godmothers. This peacekeeping fairy of the princess's entourage sports pink or red. To make a red Flora costume, a red dress, a red pointed hat, a flowing red sash, and the cape are all you need. The sash wraps around the base of the hat, crosses in the front, is pulled taut down over the ears and tied around the neck. Tinker Bell is a green fairy, but her sassy buddy, Rosetta, is always fashionable in pink and red. The fairies of Fairy Hollow do not usually wear capes, but Rosetta is a trend setter, and capes might just be the "new thing."
- A red cape also helps to complete a vampire costume. The inside liner of a vampire's black cape is usually red. By adding a black cape atop the red one and wearing a suit vest with a dress shirt underneath, a vampire is born. Do not forget the token dime store wax teeth. A devil is also a popular pick for Halloween. The devil look can be accomplished with all red attire topped with the red cape, a pair of horns, and a pitchfork.
