How to Hang Venetian Blinds
- 1). Make sure you have all the necessary parts to install the blind including brackets, screws, valances and valance clips. If it is a large blind, it may have a center support bracket.
- 2). Open the brackets and install them first on both sides of the window. For an inside mount blind, attach the brackets just inside the window recess or frame so it is flush. For outside mount blinds, hang the brackets just outside the window frame so the edge of the bracket is flush with the edge of the frame.
- 3). Hold the bracket in place and make sure they're even on both sides; use a carpenter's level just to be sure. Make a mark with a pencil where the screw holes are. While you are still holding the bracket, use the drill and 1/4-inch hex bit to secure the screws in place for both brackets.
- 4). Add the center support bracket in the same manner if your blinds have one. Use a tape measure to make sure it is in the middle of the two end brackets.
- 5). Slide the headrail into the end brackets and center bracket if necessary. The end of the headrail should hook into the grooves on the brackets. Attach the valance clips on the headrail by sliding them on the front and space them evenly apart. Place the top part of valance in top part of valance clip, then gently push down to snap into place.
- 6). Attach the tilt wand (if your blind has one and it was not attached). Slide the wand onto the hook attached to the tilt or shaft on one side of the blind. Bring the the sleeve down over the hook so the wand is secured in place.
- 7). Pull the lift cords on the blinds to fully extend them. Use the wand to adjust the slats and make sure the blinds work correctly. Make any necessary adjustments.
