How to Paint Cultured Marble

    How to Paint Cultured Marble

    • 1). Remove any hardware, such as a faucet. Set all hardware and accompanying screws and bolts aside. Clean the surface using soapy water and a clean cloth, then dry completely.

    • 2). Prepare the cultured marble by sanding it using medium grit sandpaper or a buffer with a sander. Sanding off all of the glazed surface removes the sheen and colors of the cultured marble, enabling it to accept the paint. Clean any dust or debris from the surface using a damp cloth. Dry it completely.

    • 3). Use painters tape to cover any surrounding walls, floors or anything else that you are unable to remove but don't want to paint over.

    • 4). Apply the primer to the entire surface you are painting. Use a spray primer for ease, or a roller; both will help ensure an even coat. Let the primer dry completely before moving on.

    • 5). Paint the cultured marble with an epoxy-based paint or spray stone if you are trying to create a granite (or other stone) look. Evenly coating the surface is crucial to the outcome. You can add glitter or sparkle at this time.

    • 6). Add polyurethane or a polymer resin when the paint is dry to help seal the paint and make the surface shiny and glossy.
