How to Create a PTZ Controller From a Joystick
- 1). Plug the joystick’s USB cable into a USB port on the computer. Click the red “X” in the upper-right corner of the “New hardware found” pop-up window that appears.
- 2). Click “Start,” then “Control Panel,” then “Game Controller.” Click the “Properties” button in the window that appears. Move the joystick from front to back and from left to right, to see a dot move in synchronization in a circle in the window that appears. Press the buttons on the joystick, to see buttons on the window illuminate. Press the “OK” button at the bottom of the window.
- 3). Launch the PTZ camera’s “ActiveSetup” software by selecting it from the “Start,” “All Applications” menu.
- 4). Click the “Camera setting” button at the top of the of the program’s main window. Click the “PTZ” tab beneath and to the right of the button.
- 5). Click the “Enable PTZ” check box beneath and to the left of the tab. Then click the check boxes that correspond to the buttons on the joystick. Click the “OK” button at the bottom of the window, when done. Quit the program.
