How to Repair a Sliding Door Handle
- 1). Remove the broken handle from the door, using a screwdriver. The handle either is mounted to the surface of the door or is mortised and inserted into the door through an edge. Two screws are on the sides of surface-mounted models or inside the door on mortised models.
- 2). Measure your broken handle with a tape measure to get the dimensions. Most door handles with the same dimensions as your broken handle will work, regardless of manufacturer.
- 3). Match up where the screws connect on your replacement handle compared with the broken handle.
- 4). Install your new sliding door handle and replace the screws to keep the handle secure, using the screwdriver.
