- 1). Open your salt lid so that it pours out instead of shakes out individual pieces. Pour the salt on a plate so that it forms a small pyramid.
- 2). Grab the lime half and rub it against the whole rim of the margarita glass, taking care not to squeeze too hard. The rim should be damp, but it does not need to be completely wet to be effective. The lime moisture is what gets the salt to stick to the glass.
- 3). Turn the margarita glass upside down, and touch it to the plate with salt. Rotate the glass all the way around in the salt so that each portion of the rim is completely covered.
- 4). Turn the margarita glass upright. You are now ready to add the margarita to the salt-rimmed glass.
