How to Knit a Bag on a Round Loom

    • 1). Cast on your first stitch. To do this, create a slip knot in your yarn, leaving a 12-inch tail. Slide the knot onto the anchor peg and tighten it until it is secure, but not extremely tight.

    • 2). Bring the yarn to the inside edge of the loom and wrap the yarn across the front of the next peg. Continue wrapping around the back of the peg. Your stitch should follow the pattern of a cursive “e,” This is called the “e-stitch.”

    • 3). Continue casting on by wrapping the yarn around the pegs in an e-stitch all the way around the loom. When you get back to the original peg, continue stitching around the circle again. Each circle you complete is one row. Knit 17 rows.

    • 4). Knit off each stitch all the way around the loom. To do this, complete an e-stitch around the first peg. Then use the tapestry needle to pull the stitch below the new e-stitch over the top of the peg. Pull a little slack from the working yarn each time you wrap a new e-stitch to form a small loop. Continue the process on each peg around the loom.

    • 5). Bind off the stitches. To do this, move the loop from the second peg onto the first peg. Knit off the stitch on the first peg and move the remaining loop to the second peg. Continue binding off all the way around the loom. There will be one loop left. Do an e-stitch on the peg with the loop and knit off. Cut a 12-inch tail.

    • 6). Thread the tail onto the tapestry needle and push the needle up from under the loop, removing the loop from the peg. Use the needle to attach the first loop of the bound off edge to the last loop. Trim the tail of yarn off. This completes the body of the bag.

    • 7). Cast on stitches on two pegs. Leave a 12-inch tail.

    • 8). Wrap another stitch around the two pegs in a figure-8 shape. Knit off both pegs. Repeat for 36 rows.

    • 9). Move the loop from the first peg to the second and knit off. E-stitch around the second peg and knit off. Cut the yarn and leave a 12-inch tail. Do an e-stitch around the peg, knit off and pull until the tail is snug against the cord you just knitted.

Turn the bag inside out and thread the original tail on the tapestry needle. Stitch the bottom of the bag closed and trim the tail.

Thread the tail from the beginning of the cord on the tapestry needle. Stitch one side of the cord to the third row from the top of the bag. Stitch the other side of the cord to the opposite side of the bag. Trim the tail.
