Visiting the Stunning Nature Parks of Tuscany
As one of Italy's most beautiful regions, Tuscany is well known amongst the world's travellers, with its rolling hills and ancient spires that sprout out of the towns and small villages that dot the countryside. Parco Nazionale delle Foreste Casentinesi, Monte Falterona, Campigna €" This protected area along the Apennine ridge is a perfect place to visit on a day spent enjoying the great outdoors of Tuscany. It has several natural habitats for wolves and golden eagles and a huge array of flora as well. The wetlands border the town of Sesto Fiorentino, and include the five lakes - Calvana, Morello, Chalice, and Acqualunga Focognan - some of which are seasonally flooded. While visiting the area, you can see a variety of creatures such as the aquatic birds, the migratory bird species, birds of prey, various amphibian species and a good showing of the typical flora of the wetland areas.
Parco Naturale della Maremma €" Stretching along the Tyrrhenian coast from Principina a Mare to Alberese, and up to Talamone, this stunning coastal park is a beautiful place to visit in Tuscany. Villas can be booked nearby that will allow you access the mountains that spill down into the sea. Here in the park, you can visit three of the towers that were built as a reaction to the growing Turkish presence in the 15th century: the Castelmarino, the Collelungo, and the Torre dell'Uccellina - of which the Castelmarino was probably the first built. While there, take a lunch and a bottle of good local wine and have a picnic on the beach and take in the stunning scenery of the park before heading back to your accommodation for the night.
