About Korea's Nuclear Nonproliferation Act

    Coverage

    • The Nonproliferation Act covers the prevention of missiles including materials to make missiles and other weapons of mass destruction. The Act also covers any weapons or materials or technology purchased from North Korea.

    Countries Involved

    • Any member state that is part of the U.N. Security Council is involved in North Korea's Nonproliferation Act. The United States, China, Japan and South Korea are just four of the members.

    Amendings

    • This Act also includes Iran and Syria. North Korea is added to each phrase alongside Iran and Syria.

    Sanctions

    • If any country or persons violate the Nonproliferation Act by, for example, procuring weapons for or selling weapons to North Korea, said country or person will receive sanctions imposed on them by the U.N. and the member countries.

    Cooperation

    • This Act coincides with U.N. Security Council Resolution 1695, which is supported by most of the council members.
