Change Your Life - Make a Start

What stops you doing what you really want to do? Is it fear, lack of clarity about your desired outcome, or not knowing how to convert your dreams into achievable goals? Be prepared to look at your beliefs objectively and be creative in your thinking.
Be clear about what you want to achieve.
To introduce a new way of doing something may take a few weeks of being self-conscious before it becomes automatic.
It is said to take at least twenty-0ne repetitions of a new behaviour before it becomes automatic.
The first time you try something different your actions may seem contrived and uncomfortable, but eventually you will develop a new automatic habit as your comfort zone increases.
How can you start? •Decide what you want to achieve: your desired outcome • Be very specific about your goals because vague goals are less likely to be realized.
• Decide on the date by when you want to achieve your goal.
•Take the first step because however much you want it, nothing happens until you take action.
Make the decision to change: •do something different because doing one thing differently helps you to do others.
•start with a small step because it's easier than starting with a huge step •find someone to motivate and encourage you because support is motivating Why is there a need for change? • Many doctors believe they have to deal with whatever the system throws at them.
• As a result, some leave medicine entirely, a few seek jobs to do part time, others continue until they reach breaking point, take an overdose or take time off for stress related illnesses.
•If you want your life to be better, happier and less stressful, it is a sign of your strength not weakness to talk about, and get support to achieve what you want.
• Don't wait until you can't cope any more.
You need lots of energy to make changes.
Take personal responsibility •If you wait for someone else then you may be disappointed.
• The system takes many years to alter but you can begin to enjoy your own life much, much more if you decide to take action.
•You need time to think about what has been happening lately: your life depends on you changing your situation so that you have a fulfilling and interesting professional life while not neglecting other parts of your life such as your friends, family, partner and being involved in your community too.
