New Digital Signage System Transforms Larnaca Airport

Cyprus' Larnaca Airport underwent an expansion in November 2009, therefore it required a brand new digital signage system to cater for the requirements of the increase in travellers. Signage technology was needed to illustrate all that Cyprus has to offer as well as being a resource for advertisement. In response to the requirements Larnaca now boasts Cyprus's largest digital signage system.

The new system contains more than 330 LCD screens that now provide information and adverts to millions of travellers each year.

The sign family is made up of several high tech motion media boards all positioned at different areas within the airport. Many of the signs display adverts as well as being able to provide information on Cyprus as a tourist destination. Adverts vary in topic and include fashion, international drinks brands and many more.

Arrivals at the airport have two large digital media signs that are placed adjacent to the moving travelator. The adverts are on a repeat loop to ensure that each customer gets to see the adverts at least once.

When passport control is reached passengers will see a bank of i-Players, these are digital signage applications that consist of 52 inch screens creating the illusion of one enormous screen. This particular installation is guaranteed to get the attention of travellers due to the area it is set in, the lighting is also low adding to the effect.

When they reach baggage claim travellers will see five new video cube installations. These are all created from thirty forty inch LCD screens that play a synchronised message together.

The digital signage system at Larnaca airport is a unique and innovative project which shows how introducing digital signage and creating the best backdrop can result in success. Digital signage systems like this one are becoming more and more popular in recent times.
