Knock Knock Jokes
For centuries, knock knock jokes have been making people laugh. Perhaps the first usage of it was in Shakespeare's play Macbeth. While that first joke might have seemed very different from today's (It involved a 20 line monologue and actual on-stage door knocking), the knock knock joke has since evolved into a cornerstone of comedy. Today, this form of humor is beginning to be considered outdated and old, fit for children only. I hope that I can encourage a revitalization of this humble style of joke, in an effort to appreciate the simpler things in life.
Well, what is a knock knock joke anyway?
The format is quite simple and goes like this
Knock knock
Who's there?
(line)
(line who?)
Punchline
Here's an example of one that my kids really enjoy:
Knock knock
Who's there?
Ho ho!
Ho ho who?
You know, you're Santa impression could use some work
And another:
Knock knock
Who's there?
Cash
Cash who?
No thanks, but I would like a peanut!
These jokes often involve simple word play to deliver their punchline.
While these jokes are often considered simple and for kids, there are many higher level ones as well that involve twists on the typical joke format. Because I am a lover of these jokes myself, who loves telling them to my little kids who think they are hilarious, I've made a simple website about them.
You can check it out at http://knockknock-jokes.net
People can browse the site to find funny jokes or even submit their own!
People ask me all the time, why make a website about knock knock jokes? Aren't there more important things in life? And I suppose there are. However, as life gets more and more complex, in our technology and smartphone filled lives, I think its important to take a step back once in a while and appreciate some of the simpler aspects in life. One of my favorite activities is to tuck my two children (a 3 year old girl and 5 year old boy whom I love very much) in at night and make them roar with laughter when I tell them a few simple jokes. I hope that you will too get to enjoy this activity some day.
Whether you are a parent like me, or someone who simply wants to find an old-fashioned laugh, or possibly just wants a break from their fast-paced life, I hope you can find my website interesting and entertaining. Cheers to the knock knock joke!
