How to Read a Natural Gas Meter
- 1). Look at the first meter on the left. If the hand on the meter is between numbers (it typically is), write down the lower of the two numbers. If the meter hand is between 2 and 3, write down the 2.
- 2). Inspect the second meter number and perform the same task. Repeat this reading with all four meters.
- 3). Write out the full reading. This is the natural gas reading for the month. Repeat the reading on the exact same day the following month. Compare the two. This will tell you how much natural gas you have used over the span of the month.
