Pujols and The St. Louis Cardinals in the World Series Again? Wild!
Albert Pujols of the World Series champion St.
Louis Cardinals just may be the reason they are there again.
Born on January 16, 1980 in the Dominican Republic, he graduated from the Fort Osage High School in Independence, Missouri, not far from where I grew up in Gladstone, Mo.
My kid brother pitched little league all over the North Kansas City area and has the trophies to prove it.
No, he did not meet up with Pujols, but if he had, he would have probably had one less trophy! Pujols was a thirteenth round draft pick from the amateur draft.
He signed with the Cardinals on August 17, 1999 and made his first appearance on April 2, 2001.
He will become a free agent in 2012.
He has been playing First Base, Left field, and Third base.
He bats right, and throws right as well.
Every year in the majors, he has made MVP.
His bat is awesome, hitting 37 home runs and 99 rbi's this year.
His batting average was.
299 at the end of the season, the lowest it has ever been in his career.
He has never had a year where his average was under.
312! His Slugging percentage is.
541 for the year.
His on-base percentage is an amazing .
366.
To most of us St.
Louis Fans, he has been a breath of fresh air and a reason to get happy.
I don't know why any St.
Louis Fan would be unhappy with Pujols..
..
Probably an imposter, under cover as a Cardinals fan.
Way back in 1985 when we had the I-70 series against KC, there was no Pujols, BUT THEN, WE DIDN'T NEED HIM! (But I digress).
The Cardinals are the wild card entrant in the World Series.
I prefer to call them the "Wild Cards!" They have managed to win in the strangest ways, against the greatest odds.
Fluke hits to crazy catches.
We have seen it all this post season.
Now they go to the World Series against the Texas Rangers, and Nolan Ryan, is saying the winner will be Texas in six games.
We shall see.
I don't think it will be Texas, and I don't think it will take St.
Louis six games to win it.
Not with Pujols in the line-up.
Not with the momentum swinging in St.
Louis' favor, and not with me out there screaming my head off!
