Grand Canyon Helicopter Tours for Valentine"s Day

The most romantic day of the year is coming up.
What do you have planned? If you happen to be traveling to Las Vegas or Arizona, why not consider a helicopter tour to the Grand Canyon? These flights are fun and thrilling, but, more importantly, totally romantic! West Rim or South Rim? First thing to be decided is what part of the National Park you want to visit.
There are two destinations: The West Rim and the South Rim.
Which one is right for you? Depends where you start from.
Las Vegas couples will go to the West, while Arizona lovebirds will head to the South.
Most folks are unaware that the Grand Canyon is just 120 miles from Las Vegas - a distance that helicopters can cover in under an hour.
En route, you'll fly over the crystalline waters of Lake Mead and the engineering marvel known as Hoover Dam.
This is all before cresting the Grand Wash Cliffs and entering canyon airspace.
The West Rim, which is also known as Grand Canyon West, is the only place in the park where you can fly below the rim and land at the bottom.
Frankly, this is the most spectacular option available, especially because it includes a Champagne picnic! If you really want to flatter him or her, extend this trip to include a boat ride down the Colorado River and a jaunt on the Grand Canyon Skywalk.
Highlights! Other West Rim helicopter flights include one that lets you do the top and bottom of the canyon with additional time to explore the rim.
If you go this route, there are a number of captivating points of interest like Guano Point, Eagle Point, the Indian Cultural Center and Hualapai Ranch.
South Rim couples have two types of air tours from which to choose: Thirty-minute or 50-minute flights.
The shorter version goes from South Rim to the North Rim and back.
The longer version includes those two rims plus the East Rim/boundary of the National Park.
Personally, I recommend you go on the longer tour, of which the views are spectacular and plentiful.
Because Valentine's Day is special, I also suggest booking tours that feature the EcoStar 130.
This aircraft's cabin is 25 percent larger than that of conventional helicopters.
This extra space means these birds are equipped with stadium style seats, state-of-the-art climate control and huge wraparound windows for the best panoramic views in the house.
Booking Early Expect seats to be limited on this most auspicious of occasions.
Lots of other couples will have the same idea to take to the skies.
My suggestion is that you book your helicopter ride at least a week or two in advance.
Indeed, there's a possibility that you'll get a flight if you book within 36 hours of your desired departure date, but it's risky and it's not something I personally would want to do on such an important day.
Lastly, make sure you book your Valentine's flight online.
Doing so will nearly ensure you get the best deal possible.
I say "nearly" because you have to know where to look, which is on the websites of the tour operators themselves.
Even then, you have to be vigilant because you'll only get that great online rate if you complete the transaction online.
