The Great Players In The Minnesota Vikings Ring Of Honor
Like many teams, the Minnesota Vikings have a Ring of Honor to celebrate and honor the best players and other employees in team history.
The Vikings started their ring of honor in 1998, and six people were inducted during different games during that season.
Through 2009, the Vikings had honored 18 different people in this way.
1998 In the first year of the Ring of Honor, the team inducted six people including three players and three people who helped those players and the organization be all that it could be.
They were quarterback Fran Tarkenton, safety Paul Krause, defensive tackle Alan Page, head coach Bud Grant, general manager Jim Finks, and medical adviser Fred Zamberletti.
1999 The lone player putin during 1999 was defensive end Jim Marshall.
2001 Three players were honored in 2001, as center Mick Tingelhoff, and offensive tackles Ron Yary and Korey Stringer were both included into this group.
2002 The one player inducted into the Ring of Honor for Minnesota in 2002 was defensive end Carl Eller.
2003 Wide receiver Cris Carter would see his name included with the greats from Vikings past in 2003 when he was named to be a part of this honored group of former players.
2004 Running back Bill Brown, who played with the team from 1962 to 1974, was inducted into Minnesota's Ring of Honor in 2004.
2005 Longtime offensive coordinator Jerry Burns, who also served as head coach of Minnesota from 1986 to 1991, would join this select group of Vikings in 2005.
2006 Guard Randall McDaniel, who would go into the Pro Football Hall of Fame three years later, became a member of Minnesota's list of honored players in 2006.
2007 Chuck Foreman was a great player to watch run the ball for the Vikings during the 1970's, and in 2007 he was rightfully honored with induction into the Minnesota Vikings' Ring.
2008 Defensive tackle John Randle who played with the team from 1990 to 2000, joined this honored group of players in 2008, and he would go on to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame just two years later.
2009 Linebacker Scott Studwell starred for the team from 1977 to 1990.
