How To Tow a Trailer With a Motorcycle

    • 1). Install a front wheel chock for your bike. A wheel chock wedges the front wheel and prevents the bike from rolling. Follow the instruction provided with the chock for proper installation.

    • 2). Screw at least four eyebolts into the trailer bed. Larger motorcycles may require up to six. These bolts will serve as tie-down posts to hold the bike in place. Insert one on each side at the front of the trailer, facing the towing vehicle. Install the other two at the end of the motorcycle. If six are used, install two in the center section.

    • 3). Wrap the tie-down straps around the frame of the bike or to a solidly mounted part of the motorcycle. For instances, you might wrap one strap through the forks of the front end. Thread the strap through the fork and attached it to the eyebolt on one side. Walk around the trailer and grab the strap through on the other side. Pull the strap taut until you form a 45-degree angle on each side then attach it to the open eyebolt. Repeat this process for all straps.

    • 4). Walk around the bike and double-check all the straps. Pull on the bike to ensure movement is limited.
