How to Do Launch Control
- 1). Turn on your car and allow the engine to idle. Ensure that your practice area is a closed-off area where you will encounter no other cars or pedestrians.
- 2). Depress the clutch of your car -- if it has one -- and keep it depressed while pushing the transmission into "First Gear" or "Drive" if you are using an automatic.
- 3). Rev the engine while keeping the clutch pedal depressed, or by keeping the brake pedal depressed if you are using an automatic. Hold the revs steady at a rev level slightly before the level at which your engine's power band peaks. You can determine the power bands by driving the car around and determining what rev levels produce the maximum power and acceleration.
- 4). Release the clutch, or brake pedal if using an automatic, once you have reached the appropriate rev level. Quickly depress the acceleration pedal to continue accelerating after the launch.
