Being Groovy: A Cure for Bad Sex and PE
"Slow down, you move too fast, you've got to make the morning last" Simon and Garfunkel had the idea right when they penned these words for their 1967 release "The 59th Street Bridge Song (better known as 'Feelin' Groovy')".
Perhaps the songwriting duo had no inkling of the gravitas of their words.
A lot of times, men, especially younger men, get caught up in the passion and athleticism of intimacy, and forget- or don't even know- that if you just slow things down a little, there are many benefits to be had.
Of course, this applies more to younger men than older men because- well- as you get older, your body (especially your back and your joints) can't really do the things it used to.
I'm already a witness to this.
One benefit of slowing down is what I call enhanced "intimate communication" with your partner.
When you are rushing things, intimate communication tends to be among the first things left behind.
When I refer to "intimate communication", I'm not only referring to the usual "intimate conversation" and moaning that goes along with sex, but also the nonverbal communication.
Things such as caressing, petting, body language, and eye contact are all part of the communication that's needed for great sex, but are often lost when men choose to rush.
Also, when men stop putting out this communication, many times they also stop observing their partner's attempts at communication.
Another benefit of slowing down is the lessened likelihood of premature ejaculation.
If intimate communication is among the first things to go when sex is "too fast", then ejaculatory control is probably the leader of the pack.
For the majority of men, speed kills- the sexual experience, at least.
When a man slows down, he is able to maintain better control of himself mentally and physically, and he is able to extend the intimate experience much longer.
Oftentimes men feel that what they see in adult movies is the "right" way to do it- other times, because of pornographic films, men feel that they have to make up for their perceived inadequacy by going faster and harder, when in reality, quality over quantity is what will bring the most mutually rewarding and longest-lasting intimate experience.
So next time you are enjoying intimacy with your partner, assuming that you have enough time on your hands, slow things down a little bit and try to enhance the intimate communication with your significant other.
You may be pleasantly surprised with the results.
