5 Good Eats and Good Deals You Must Not Miss in Ortigas

Other than the choices offered by your hotel in Ortigas, Pasig City, this area has a wealth of culinary delights on offer. And they don't have to be necessarily expensive. Here's a list of 5 places where you can get good food at reasonable prices.

1. Asian Bites
Robinson's Supermarket, 1st Level, Robinson's Galleria
This just might be the cheapest place in the metro to get a serving of Chirashi Don (around PHP149). Located just near the supermarket entrance, Asian Bites offers a good selection of sushi, such as Salmon Skin Maki (4 pieces for only PHP49). It also has a number of Chinese-inspired dishes, such as a Lechon Macau rice bowl (PHP99).

2. The Thai Kitchen
1st Level, Robinson's Galleria
Don't just stick to the buffet offered at your 3-star hotel in Ortigas, Pasig City. At The Thai Kitchen, not only can you stuff yourself silly with their decent-sized spread - your wallet will be happy, too. For a little less than PHP300, you can already enjoy their lunch or dinner buffet, complete with a free glass of iced tea. They also have a merienda buffet with a variety of Thai snacks and delicacies, plus complimentary glass of iced tea, all for PHP115.

3. Jacob's Shawarma
AIC Gold Building, Sapphire Road
Staying at a cheap hotel in Ortigas Center and not happy with the room service choices? Don't go to bed hungry, even if it's quite late at night, as Jacob's Shawarma is open 24 hours except on Sundays. Owned and run by an expat with the same name, it is one of the few authentic Turkish restaurants in the capital. Just a note: a different kind of meat is served every day, so if you want their lamb and beef shawarma, go on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Chicken is served on Mondays and Thursdays, while salmon is only offered on Wednesdays and Fridays.

4. Subspace Coffee House
Grand Emerald Tower, F. Ortigas Jr. Road
With a quirky style that will remind one of the cafes in Seoul, this is not only known for their unique Purple Potato Latte - a cup of java with a hint of sweet potato and yam. It is also a K-Pop fan's paradise, as they have K-Pop hits on their playlist, and various merchandise for sale.

5. Banchetto
Megatent, Meralco Avenue
Of course, when talking about the variety of food, there's no better place to go than the Banchetto street food market. From hot and spicy Korean rice cakes, to sushi, and of course Pinoy street food like isaw, it's all here. Open only from 8 PM Friday to 7 AM Saturday, it's the perfect stop for a meal after a long night of partying, before returning to your hotel in Ortigas, Pasig City [http://www.richmondehotel.com/richmonde-hotel-ortigas/ortigas/?pg=irresistible-offers].
