Taking a Yoga Class

Taking a yoga class is a great way to experience yoga.
No special equipment is required other than lose fitting or baggy clothing, and yoga classes can be found in many places.
Your health club may have them, there are specialty yoga studios, or you can hire an instructor for private lessons.
Keep in mind that there are several different types of yoga, and although as a beginner you don't want to worry or even think about this much, if you find your class too spiritual, too physical, or not physical enough it may be the type of yoga.
Also, regardless of your level of fitness, make absolutely sure you start with a beginner's class.
It doesn't matter if you can bench press 300 pounds, run a marathon, or bike 100 miles, start with a beginner's class.
You can always move up afterwards if appropriate.
You'll probably want to do several classes to see if yoga if for you, although many people love it from the beginning.
It's unlike any other form of exercise you've probably ever experienced before, but may find it's not only good for your body but good for your mind as well.
Although exercise being good for your mind may be a new concept in the west, it's been accepted in many parts of the world for essentially ever.
There are no national certifications for yoga instructors to check, and although which master an instructor may have studied under can be very important, to we novices it means little or nothing.
Ask around, get recommendations, and then sign up for a class.
If classes are offered through your health club, they may even be free.
