Stress Migraines
- Stress migraines are one of the most common types of migraine headaches that affect millions of people on a regular basis.
- For those who suffer from stress migraines, it is most common for attacks to occur anywhere from zero to four times a month and last 4 hours to 3 days. Some will go through migraines more than four times a month and have them last even longer.
- Stress migraines are generally triggered by normal, day-to-day stressful events and not life-altering ones. If certain activities cause stress but cannot be avoided, it is recommended to be as organized as possible to help feel in control of the situation.
- Stress migraines can become more severe and intense if feelings related to stress (i.e., anxiety, fatigue, worry and excitement) are suppressed, enhancing muscle tension and causing expanded blood vessels.
- Stress migraines can often be prevented or cut down by eating healthy, getting enough sleep, exercising daily, doing relaxation exercises and discovering what it is that is causing the stress.
